The Importance of Black Art
Art is a depiction of culture. A snapshot in time. An image of ideals that make up the society from which the art is derived. Blackness has its roots in Africa, and the theme that forms the black experience across the globe are embodied in the art created in the various regions of the diaspora. The values, pains, triumphs, hopes, and dreams can be “spoken” in a way that touches the essence of being human. This reach for the humanization of the experience is “painted” into the canvas of what it means to be of African descent in a world of misunderstanding. As the value of art rises, so does the message within the art itself. Help spread the experience of blackness. Support real black art made from black souls.
